Electronic music

  • Walks through "Resonant Landscape" 1-5 (1992). These are recordings of my interactive installation piece (see below). They act as snapshots or journals of journeys taken through the installation. Walk No. 2 appeared on the soundtrack to the 2003 film Elephant, directed by Gus Van Sant.
  • Nocturne (1992). This was a commission from the Groupe de Musique Experimental de Bourges (GMEB), and was realized in their studio.
  • Resonant landscape (1990). This is an interactive computer music installation that requires a NeXT workstation, two DAT playbacks, and a MIDI-controlled mixer. It consists of recorded sounds from nature (birds, water, wind, frogs, etc.), computer-processed natural sounds, and synthetic sounds inspired by natural models. Visitors trace routes on a map displayed on the console and discover the sounds dwelling in different areas. The piece was inspired by my own walks through the woods in New Jersey.
  • Valdrada (1988). This piece was realized at the Brooklyn College Center for Computer Music. It is based on an excerpt of Italo Calvino's book "Invisible Cities".
  • Design for an invisible city (1987). This is another tape piece inspired by Calvino's book.
  • Ogni pensiero vola (1985). This is a computer-generated tape composition using various speech synthesis methods and inspired by the Orsini sculpture garden in Bomarzo, Italy.
